Sentosa Tawau recommend a English Week on 5 July
2010 to 16 July 2010. This
program runs for two weeks. This program is an annual event english school committee.
The purpose of the program was to strengthen and enhance the use of English language among the school population. In addition, this program aims to produce citizen who love language schools help students highlight the next English
language talent. The program also aims to make English language
as a place to digest the information in the life
of the school.
The program is targeted at staff and student teachers in which students are divided into two categories – stage one and stage two. Therefore, the activities are designed based on the students. Details of activities as follows: -

All the activities held during the school day at break time only. The teachers are required to speak in English
language in communication out side the classroom, including the current assembly. The staff of teachers who are not communication in English language be liable to a fine of twenty cents a word. So, there is a teacher who always walked with a dictionary. Sahiba competition among teachers successfully implemented on 10 July 2010. One round of games involving the four teachers. This competition is by sudden death. A total of four teachers who participated in the competition. This means that the game involves only two rounds of a first round game and the final round. This race was won by Mrs. Sri Mihzaeni and Miss Hanawati Naha.

For the story telling, recite poems
and spelling competation took place on the
rest 12, 13, 14 July 2010 at the School Resource Centre. Each entry fee of RM2 only. A
total of 10 students who participated in the level of story telling. The theme or title of the story based on the exemplary stories. Pupils are given fifteen
minutes of talk time. This race was won by Siti Aisyah from
the Year 3A.
Mean while, fifteen students recite
poems contest with the theme of the spirit of
national independence. Each participant was given fifteen minutes to deliver a poem. Participants are also free to use background music or sound
right. This is said to be the result of creativity. This race was won by Mohamad Hakimi of the Year 5A. For spelling contest was participated by twelve students. Each participant is required to spell twenty words correctly quoted. Participants were given only a minute
to spell a word. Participants are able to spell many words correctly will win the
competition. So, the competition was won by Mohamad Hamizan of the Year 2A.
Activities treasure hunt contest held in conjunction with Sahiba on Saturday, 10 July 2010. The competition is open to students two levels only. There are ten groups registered to participate in this activity. Each group consisted of six people. Group members are required to wear the same color. The time given for forty
fiev minutes to get the treasure. All directions given in Bahasa Inggeris and students can take the dictionary as a reference. The group managed to terminate all six directions search will find the
"golden egg " in a period of forty five minutes is the winner. Finally, the Blak Spider to win by spending only forty minutes. This activity shows a good cooperation within the group.

Each class from Year 1 to Year 6 are required to perform this english week choir during the week. So, the class of students trained under the guidance of their teachers. Choir of patriotism should be the theme country. This presentation will be held at the opening and closing later. Member of the choir is limited twelve people who combine male and female students.
The highlight of the program is the Opening and Closing English
Week. The caremony was held on 16 July 2010 simultaneously on Friday. The day began at 7.00 am with the preparation of teachers and all students. The event was officiated by the Principal Sekolah Kebangsaan Sentosa. En. Zainal Abidin Mat Noh. Event presentation ceremony was gtaced by a choir of each class and the interlaced with the presentation of prizes to winners of competitions during the program activities take place. English Language Committee are grateful for the cooperation of committee members involved as well as all teachers.
After this Programme, the Committee for English
Languages posmortem session with executive committee members involved to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the programme. These discussions can help improve the quality of the activities will be planned soon. Results posmortem
discuss strengths, weaknesses and recommendation as follows :
Among the strengths of the program.
1.
The committee has fove teachers English Language output option Teaching Diploma and has over 6 years. This experience can smooth the way all the activities held during the programe.
2.
Implementing programe received financial support from the school to increase the fees collected from financial investments. This facilitates the activities that involve little expense.
3.
A strong cooperation shown by both teachers and students in making this program especially during the opening and closing. Without this close cooperation will experience a trip programe tangles.
4. A complete infrastructure to
help schools in terms of provision of rooms for library mini
hall, activity room and musical instrument panel.
Among the weaknesses of the program.
1.
Not all teachers are proficient in English Language and confidence to use it. There are few teachers who remain silent in the teacher's room. This is because they are unsure and shy.
2.
Not all students master the subject language and loves English Language. Thus, only 75% of students who participate in activities.
3.
Question paper for the contest looking for the hidden words is not clear because of the photostat machine shop. This is because, the machine shop is too old or less ink. Teachers do not check the error before taking questions on the photostat shop.
4.
Many errors in his attorney because of lack of mastery of language function English Language. Even students who are involved as well as hum while speaking. This way impair the opening ceremony.
Among the suggestions and recommendations of the program.
1.
Cooperate with the committee of the Malay language programe such conduct by a policy of " To Uphold Bahasa Malaysia and To Strengthen The
English Language”. With this, all planned activities are held in both languages.
2.
Make sure the paper is given to students in clear and understandable. Thus, teacher sare responsible to ensure that the use of quality photostat shop and check out before purchasing them.
3. The committee also needs
to implement an internal course for teachers
confidence to speak in English
language without shame. Courses to help teachers improve
the skill level of speaking English language with confidence.
4.
Use dual-language interpreter for the same events in the assembly or even the opening ceremony. This is to allow pupils to understand instructions and also indirectly learn to speak English language.
5.
Pupils show that the interpreter must be trained and supervised to prevent a defect during the ceremony. Students in the program interpreter is indirectly learning to speak English language well.
6.
The text interpreter shall be provided a draft program by teachers English language This is because the event is a student interpreter, they are less skilled to provide the text in English language.
7.
Have a combination of teacher and students activities for the harmonious
coperation exists between students and educators with increased confidence and motivation
of students.
8.
Aktivities plenty of other students in different levels to ensure that 100% of studentsactively participating.
Overall, the activities this English week successfully
completed the cooperation of all parties. In
fact, it can achieve its
objective to strengthen the use of English language to the
school. Through action research, and reviews of many students
who are excited to participate in the
activities undertaken. Although many of the problems and weaknesses, but this program has achieved its
goal of involving 80% of the school population. By consensus the Committee will enhance
activities English language like this in the
future.

Jawatankuasa Panitia Bahasa Malaysia Sekolah Kebangsaan Sentosa telah
menjalankan aktiviti Bulan Bahasa dengan kerjasama Bulan Pusat Sumber dan Bulan
Bahasa Inggeris sepanjang Julai 2011. Oleh itu, pelancaran program ini telah
dijalankan serentak pada 1 Julai 2011. Dengan kata lain, panitia bahasa
bernaung di bawah Pusat Sumber Sekolah bagi merancang peruntukan kewangan yang
terhad.
Tujuan program adalah untuk memartabatkan penggunaan bahasa Malaysia dan mengukuhkan penggunaan bahasa Inggeris dikalangan warga sekolah. Di samping itu, program ini
bertujuan untuk mencungkil bakat murid dalam aktiviti bahasa yang
dirancang dengan menggunakan pusat sumber sebagai media maklumat yang mencerna
minda.
Program ini disasarkan kepada pelajar yang dikategorikan kepada
dua iaitu tahap 1 dan tahap 2. Oleh itu, aktiviti- aktiviti dirancang untuk
pelajar mengikut tahap seperti berikut,

Semua aktiviti dijalankan sepanjang
bulan Julai dan hanya diadakan masa rehat bagi mengelakkan pengajaran dan
pembelajaran dalam bilik darjah terganggu. Aktiviti pada minggu pertama ialah
Sahiba tahap 2 dan mengeja perkataan bagi murid LINUS. Penglibatan sahiba LINUS
dikenakan yuran sebanyak RM0.20. Aktiviti Sahiba dikelolakan oleh cikgu Bismi
Sulaiman dan Pn. Sarina Junaide di bilik pemulihan. Seramai 5 kumpulan yang
menyertai aktiviti dan dua pusingan telah diadakan bagi mendapatkan kumpulan
terbaik.
Sementara itu, mengeja perkataan
bagi murid LINUS Tahun 1 dikelolakan oleh penyelaras LINUS Pn. Norhayati
Ambotan di bilik darjah LINUS. Tiga orang pemenang mengikut markah tertinggi
dan hanya seorang mendapat markah penuh 100% iaitu adik Ashairee Irfan.
Seterusnya, aktiviti pada minggu ke
dua ialah Lukis, Teka dan Menang serta mencari perkataan tersembunyi. Aktiviti
Lukis, Teka dan Menang dikendalikan oleh cikgu Ramli Bautcheng di dewan
serbaguna sekolah. Seramai 5 kumpulan murid menyertai aktiviti. Aktiviti
diadakan dalam dua pusingan iaitu Kata Majmuk dan Peribahasa. Setiap kumpulan
terdiri daripada 4 orang peserta dan seorang menjadi pelukis sementara 3 orang
meneka jawaban berpandukan klu iaitu kata majmuk dan peribahasa. Pertandingan
ini dijuarai oleh kumpulan murid tahun 4A.
Sementara itu, mencari perkataan
tersembunyi yang terdiri daripada nilai – nilai murni dengan cara menjual
kertas peraduan berharga RM0.20 satu
pada hari Isnin dan murid yang menyertai boleh menghantar sebanyak mana jawapan
sebelum hujung minggu iaitu hari Jumaat. Terdapat 20 perkataan nilai – nilai
murni yang disusun tersembunyi secara menegak, melintang dan bersilang.
Aktiviti dikelolakan oleh Cik Aini Voo dan Cik Saridah.
Pada
minggu ketiga pula, aktiviti yang dijalankan ialah sesi uji bakat untuk mencari
murid yang berbakat bagi persembahan koir dan syair yang akan disampaikan dalam
majlis penutupan. Sesi uji bakat diadakan di dewan pada waktu rehat dengan
memilih 12 orang murid Tahun 1,2,3 bagi persembahan koir. Namun, hanya murid
tahun 1 dan 2 yang datang untuk sesi uji bakat. Pemilihan dibuat berdasarkan
kepada kemerduan suara, kekemasan diri dan kesungguhan. Sementara untuk
persembahan syair pula membuat pemilihan berdasarkan kepada kemerduan suara dan
bakat dalam menyampaikan syair dengan betul. Syair memilih dua orang murid
iaitu lelaki dan perempuan untuk menyampaikan syair secara berduet. Aktiviti
ini dikendalikan oleh Pn. Rosmiati Pari dan Cik Hanawati Naha.
Selain itu, pada minggu ketiga juga
diadakan aktiviti mendeklamasikan sajak (Selasa), menyampaikan berita (Rabu),
dan menyampaikan cerita teladan (Khamis). Semua aktiviti diadakan pada waktu
rehat bertempat di Pusat Sumber Sekolah. Penyertaan menggalakkan daripada murid
– murid tahap 1 dan 2.
Peserta
sedang menyampaikan persembahan menyampaikan berita, mendeklamasikan sajak dan
bercerita kisah teladan.
Menjelang minggu ke empat, aktiviti
yang diadakan ialah kuiz bahasa yang telah mendapat sambutan dengan 6 kumpulan
yang menyertai pertandingan. Aktiviti ini diadakan di dewan serbaguna. Setiap
kumpulan terdiri daripada lima orang. Kuiz bahasa Malaysia dibahagikan kepada
dua pusingan iaitu pusingan pertama “ Makna dan kata berlawan” sementara
pusingan ke dua “ tatabahasa” yang terdiri daripada 30 soalan setiap pusingan.
Peserta hanya memilih jawapan dengan mengangkat papan tanda A,B,C dan D.
Majlis penutupan
diadakan di dewan serbaguna pada 29 Julai 2011. Majlis disempurnakan oleh Guru
Besar SK Sentosa iaitu En. Zainal Abidin Mat Noh dengan ucapan alu – aluan dan
persembahan bahasa daripada murid – murid seperti bersyair, koir,
mendeklamasikan sajak, dan bercerita. Disamping murid – murid yang menyertai
aktiviti diberi penghargaan dan ganjaran hadiah berbentuk piala dan hamper bagi
memberikan galakan serta motivasi. Majlis ini diadakan dengan kerjasama
Penyelaras Pusat dan AJK Panitia Bahasa Inggeris bagi mendukung tema MBMMBI.
Secara keseluruhannya, program
ini berjaya mencapai misi untuk memartabatkan bahasa Malaysia dikalangan warga
sekolah 90% . Kerjasama semua pihak yang terlibat amat berharga dalam
menjanakan program seumpama ini di masa akan datang. Kekuatan dan kelemahan
yang dikesan dapat membantu meningkatkan lagi program yang akan dilaksanakan
kelak
